Thigh Strain Symptoms and Treatment

What can I do to help treat a strained thigh?

A thigh strain is an overstretching or tearing of a muscle or tendon in the upper leg. There are three important muscle groups that make up the thigh. The quadriceps work together on the front of the thigh to extend the knee, the hamstrings work together on the back of the thigh to bend the knee, and the adductors work together on the inside of the thigh to pull the legs together. Without proper warm-up, or if overused, any number of these muscles in the thigh can become strained or torn.

Our compression sleeves and shorts to provide medical-grade compression to the area in order to relieve pain, promote blood flow, and speed recovery.

What are the symptoms of a thigh strain?

People frequently describe feeling a “popping” or tearing sensation at the time of a thigh muscle strain. Many cases result in sudden and possibly severe pain in the muscle. Bruising and discoloration can occur is blood vessels were torn during the impact. The most severe strain or tear will cause extreme difficulty walking and will require the most recovery time.

What is the best way to recover from a thigh strain?

Many doctors will prescribe the R.I.C.E. protocol when recovering from a muscle strain: rest, ice, compression, and elevation.  Our Thigh Compression Sleeve, Thigh Compression Sleeve with Strap, and Ultima Compression Shorts all provide medical grade compression in a soft, breathable material to help relieve pain, increase blood flow, and facilitate recovery.
